Pennywell has Chelsea FC Football Talent!
The Chelsea Foundation coaching team return this Sunday 25th June!
A budding football star of the future from Plymstock has been brought into the Chelsea FC Foundation Academy based at Souh Dartmoor, after being spotted playing at Pennywell Farm.
Alex Bromilow, aged 8 attended one of the ‘skills and drills’ sessions at the farm run by the Foundation coaching team back in October. Talent scout, Steve Burrows saw the potential in Alex and after seeing him at Pennywell, arranged to go and watch him play with his local team, Elburton Villa. Alex joined the Academy in November 2016.
Since joining, Alex, a pupil at Oreston Community Academy has had the opportunity to train at the Chelsea FC training ground at Cobham, something that according to his mum Joanne Kennaugh was very special for him.
Joanne says: “Alex loves to play football and he loves Chelsea so being able to train at Cobham was a real dream come true for him”.
The coaching team organise small sided games and sessions for toddlers to teenagers at Pennywell several times throughout the year. It provides an excellent opportunity for parents to find out more about the linkup between South Dartmoor and the Chelsea FC Foundation which gives young footballers access to some of the best facilities in the Premier League.
Pennywell’s owner, Chris says, “The news about Alex is brilliant and just what we wanted to achieve by having the football days here. It’s a golden opportunity for him and I hope that there will be many more to follow.”
The programme is being coordinated by Colin Lee who played for Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur before going on to manage Wolverhampton and Torquay United.
Colin says, “Chelsea FC Foundation & South Dartmoor Academy Football Education Programme are delighted to be working with Pennywell Farm to help promote grass roots football for boys and girls in our local community”.
Colin is joined by Chris Beard who joined South Dartmoor Community College as Director of Football, straight from Birmingham City FC.
Further sessions will take place at Pennywell Farm on Sunday 25 June and Sunday 23 July.
