Pennywell is proud to be the leading environmentally friendly attraction
Throughout your day you will see why Pennywell is such a green business and we are proud to have been awarded a GOLD award in the National Green Tourism Business Scheme. This Scheme was launched to encourage, recognise and reward tourism businesses who adopt "green" tourism practices.

Some of the initiatives that contributed to winning the Gold Award are listed on this page.

Pennywell has Power!

Exciting news for the 2012 season! We have had 194 amazing solar panels put onto Noahs Barn which now means we are completely self-sufficient with our electricity. We believe that solar energy is a way forward in a world where energy is an ever-increasing problem. You can see a solar tracker in action and discover the power of light watching our solar flower track the sun just like a real flower.

Green Shoots

Green Shoots is all about planting seeds and taking cuttings. It is great for adults and children to take away inspiration from a day out. Crops are wonderfully sustainable and they can provide us with so much - food, medicines, building materials, clothing, beauty products, recreation and fuel - fantastic. Pennywell's other green credentials include recycling waste, mini wind power and solar power for visitor information. Come and find out more in an awesome environment!
